There is everything wrong with this. On February 10th the "Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act" of 2008" (CPSIA) went into effect. Every company and every individual that manufactures or sells any product, from toys to clothing, for any child under twelve will be hurt by this law, and all smaller businesses and individuals will be forced out of business, and many into bankruptcy.

The law requires that every product manufactured or sold for use by children under 12 must be tested for the presence of lead or phthalates (used to soften plastics), which are both banned by the bill. The price of that testing, in most cases, is more than the products are worth. Only the very largest manufacturers and retailers will be able to afford that testing. The others are simply out of business—or lawbreakers.

The timing of this bill's effective date, and the signing of the Obama bailout boondoggle is a tragic irony demonstrating the hypocrisy of the hateful socialists in Congress and the oval office who have no interest at all in people or their welfare. Far from stimulating business, it is obvious their purpose is to destroy it.

The CPSIA not only puts thousands of individuals and small companies out of business, and out of work, it will close the doors of thousands of thrift shops and second-hand stores that literally millions of the less wealthy depend on to clothe their children.

An Even Worse Irony

As appalling as CPSIA is, even more appalling is the ignorance of the victims of this draconian legislation. Watch the video and listen to some of the victims: "it's horrible timing," "it is too broad, too overreaching, and too vague," "this group of women business owners agree with the testing but don't think the same product should be tested over and over," "a lot of it just needs to be modified."

It is perfectly alright with these business people that the government is in the business of regulating them, if was just at a different time. It's OK with them that the government takes on the task of protecting people's children, so people won't have to worry about protecting their own children, if it just wasn't "too broad, overreaching and vague." They agree with the testing, if it just didn't have to be done over and over. They don't mind government oppression, government paternalism, and government interference in private lives—they don't mind being slaves, they just want their masters to be a little kinder. It is very hard to be sorry for these victims who are getting exactly what they asked for—now don't like it.

You probably did not see anything about CPSIA in any MSM source, because it was mostly ignored by the MSM; but not one of the articles or online pieces that did expose CPSIA addressed the fact CPSIA violates every principle of freedom this country is supposed to be based on and is an example of the worst nanny state intrusion and protectionism. The articles only addressed the consequences and victims, but ignored the reason all such bills have bad consequences—because they violate every principle of individual liberty. Not one mentioned that children are not the property of the state and that it is not the government's business to protect anyone's children, and certainly not by intruding in other people's private business or transactions between private individuals. No one mentions that there is nothing in the Constitution or the intentions of the founders of this country that grants to the government the power to regulate the creation or use of any substance or product by any individuals.

What To Do About CPSIA

Everything you will read by those who want to do something about CPSIA is about trying to "fix" it, as though you can make a law that is immoral and unconstitutional palatable by tweaking it. There is nothing that can be done that can make any part of CPSIA acceptable to those who know what freedom is.

Here's the truth. CPSIA is an evil law passed by evil politicians who hate business and despise anything of real value produced by them and enjoyed by individuals. CPSIA is an anti-human law that will do more to harm children then outright physical abuse, and those responsible for the law are child abusers, not child saviors. Most of them hate children, which is why the same people want to promote more abortions and encourage people not to have children. Why do people not see what lying evil people they are and what a total evil any government forced testing is?

There is something those who know what freedom is and are threatened by this horrid regulation can do. They can ignore the law. In fact, if everyone would just ignore it, just tell the regulators from hell to go home, they could keep on doing business as usual. It would be just the kind of 'civil disobedience' the founders of this country would have applauded. No one needs to "obey" any law that comes out of the illegitimate government that now sits in Washington.

But there is an easier and less risky solution. Do not manufacture or sell anything for children under twelve. No, I'm not advocating you give up. Have some inexpensive tags printed up that clearly say, "Not for sale to, or use by, children under 12." Put them on everything. If some things are obviously children's things, like books, clothing, or toys, you could add to the tag something like, "Intended for collectors only". After all, you cannot prevent someone from using something in a way you did not intend.

Do not tell anyone what you are doing, especially anyone in government. Do not ask anyone's permission to do this, or if it is legal. Do not consult a lawyer. If you feel compelled to do any of those things, it would be better for you to be in some other business. May your chains rest lightly upon you.

What About the Perpetrators

Make no mistake about the kind of people who can pass these kinds of laws. They are not misguided do-gooders. They're worse than any terrorists. They are human-hating parasites who have never produced a thing of value in their lives but have done everything in their power to appropriate (steal) what other's have produced, and to distribute it wherever they can use it to increase their power. Everything they do brings misery to responsible, productive, and decent people, and threatens their property, their lives, and their futures. The destruction they cause to anything of real value, terrorists can only dream of.

What should be done about these people. Unless you do not mind the smell of swill and death, they ought to be avoided by you and I. As for what ought to be done, they should meet the same fate any terrorist does when caught in the act.
