A "Market" Announcement!

The market I have in mind is the free market of ideas. That, of course, is the reason, "free speech," and a, "free press," are fundamental necessities to individual freedom in a governed society. Which ideas and which principles will come to dominate a society and determine its direction and progress is either decided by the oppressive mandates of government or by the free choice of all the individuals in that society. To make that choice, individuals must have access to all the ideas competing for individual attention and understanding.

While in this country, in the name of the, "politically correct," "multiculturalism," and some misguided notions about, "national security," both freedom of speech and the press come under more oppressive government restrictions every day, the Internet has become the true free market of ideas. The Autonomist believes in fostering and promoting that freedom.

This announcement is about that free market of ideas and the Autonomist's participation in it; and it is addressed to both kinds of participants, readers and writers.

Readers: The Autonomist view of freedom is radically individualistic. The Autonomist believes freedom pertains only to individuals, and ultimately, individuals must secure their own freedom and that they are capable of doing that in any society.

The autonomist understands this view is not shared by all freedom loving individuals, and many, probably most, believe that, to some degree, freedom depends on a society being one in which individual freedom can flourish. This "activist" view is one the Autonomist appreciates, because the ultimate goal, individual freedom, is the same. That is why the Autonomist publishes articles like Professor Younkin's "The Reality and Morality of Business," and Mr. Stolyarov's article, "The Necessity of Road Privatization," and will be publish many more of that ilk in the future.

Writers: The Autonomist has lined up some good freedom loving writers, but always welcomes fresh viewpoints and original material that promotes individual freedom from other perspectives. Please see The Autonomist's "Submissions" to respond to this open invitation to participate in the marketing side of this free market of ideas.
