Ontology Outline

This is not an outline of Ontology, the subject, it is an outline of how this ontology is going to be presented. Five sections are planned.

  • Objectives—is an overview of what this ontology intends to accomplish, with some ground rules for what constitutes a correct ontology. It includes some important questions ontology must answer.

  • Basic Principles of Ontology—provides the foundational concepts of ontology.

  • Ontological Hierarchy of Differentiation—is the heart of ontology. The nature and structure of material existence is fully explained.

  • Answers—answers all the questions raised in Objectives based on the principles delineated in the Hierarchy.

Qualities—is an addendum to the ontology which discusses the nature of qualities—a subject almost totally misunderstood within philosophy. Six categories of qualities are identified and their significance fully described:

    • Necessary vs. Possible (Essential vs Accidental)
    • Intrinsic vs. Relative
    • Class vs. Individual
    • Perceptual vs.Conceptual
    • Material vs. Conceptual
    • Concrete vs. Abstract
This very important addendum will also be used for the epistemology. It will be published before the Hierarchy.
